"Smokey"
We adopted Smokey in 1986. He was a young stray kitten around 3 months of age. Smokey was a very personable, outgoing cat, and we credit him with teaching generations of Kuvasz how to behave around cats. Smokey lived to the great age of 19 1/2 and is very much missed
"Bella"
"Bella" was a mixed breed. She was born in 1989, and we adopted her from the Atlanta Humane Society in 1990 when she was about 8 months old. At that time we only had cats, and had not had any plans to get a dog. But, after my Mom passed away unexpectedly, some people had made donations to Atlanta Humane in her memory since my Mom was a big animal lover. The humane society sent us a note acknowledging the donations, and invited us to come down and see how the funds were put to use. (I was really having a hard time dealing with my Mom's loss at the time). On the drive to the humane society, Tony kept saying "we are just going to look". Well, after walking thru all the kennel runs, we saw Bella in the next to the last run, and something about her caught my eye. I asked if we could visit with her. They put us in a room with her where, with her silly antics and engaging ways, she made me laugh for the first time since my Mom had died a month before. After about 5 minutes the shelter worker came back in and asked what we thought-at which point Tony promptly said "we'll take her" And the rest is history!
She was our first dog, and we had so many happy years together. She helped raise all our Kuvasz, and lived a long, full, happy life. She crossed over the Rainbow bridge September 7, 2006 - with Tony and I by her side. She was 17 years and 3 months old. She will be missed.
