    In Memoriam

Miss Vickie was born on July 7, 1994. She was out of Am/Can Champion Lofranco's Invictus Of Asgard and Am/Can 2 x Best in Show Ch. Czigany Yuletide Ariel, CGC. Miss Vickie was a very athletic, structurally sound, and muscular girl. She had an abundant wavy coat of proper texture and distribution. Miss Vickie was a very easy going Kuvasz, easy to live with and very eager to please. She was a certified Therapy Dog, and worked for several years as a therapy dog at the local nursing home.

Miss Vickie came to Rebel Ridge in the fall of 1997 with 4 championship points. After taking some time to settle in with us, she started her show career with us in early 1998 and quickly finished her AKC Championship within 3 months, winning several best of breeds in the process. Her final championship points were via a 5 point winner's bitch major at the Kuvasz Club of America's 1998 National specialty weekend. In 1999, Miss Vickie finished the show year with the rank of # 7 Kuvasz in the USA in breed points- all owner handled.

We had high hopes for Miss Vickie becoming our foundation bitch for our breeding program. Sadly, in 2000, Miss Vickie developed Pyometra and had to be spayed during emergency surgery. Although our hopes of Miss Vickie becoming our foundation bitch were not realized, she remained an integral part of our family, and made valuable contributions to our family and the breed in many other ways. She participated in judges education seminars, obedience demonstrations, public education and "meet the breed" venues. She helped us raise several of our own puppies- as well as acting as a "foster mother" to several rescued Kuvasz puppies who were in foster care with us until adoptive homes could be found for them.

She was awarded the Versatility Performance Award (VPA) by the Kuvasz Club of America in 2004.

In November 2004, at the Savannah Kennel Club shows, Miss Vickie won the veterans working group at age 10 1/2!

We were proud to have been able to show Miss Vickie one last time, at the 2006 Kuvasz Club of America National Specialty, in the Veterans class. She was the oldest Kuvasz in the show, and had a great time hearing all the applause as she made her final appearance in the show ring.

Sadly, age and complications from rapidly worsening arthritis finally caught up to Miss Vickie in June 2006. We miss her every day.

We will always be grateful to breeders Linda Lloyd and Dorie Engstrom for allowing us to have this wonderful girl..
